4-Year-Old Class
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
9:00am- 11:45am

A lot of learning and growth happens in our 4-year-old classroom as we spend our year preparing our students for success in kindergarten.

The majority of our day is still play-centered, as students are encouraged to use their imaginations to role-play, build, and create. More collaborative options are offered in the 4's classroom as we encourage students to work together on games and puzzles. During this time, teachers model taking turns, navigating different social situations, and encouraging curiosity and perseverance as students try new things.

We spend each day working on handwriting and pre-reading skills. The students practice writing their names daily. During circle time, we play word games that focus on letter sound relationships. We focus on a weekly letter and offer many opportunities throughout the week for students to identify the letter in print, practice the letter sound, and write the letter.

In addition to literacy skills, the students are offered opportunities throughout each week to build their knowledge of math concepts and use the scientific method to make sense of the world around them. Our curriculum is aligned with the NYS Prekindergarten Standards of Learning.

Our school offers a different pre-kindergarten option for parents. We offer a shorter school week and shorter days for our young learners, but our time is packed full of opportunities for learning and growth. Our school provides a smaller setting that allows us to foster more family involvement and meet the individual needs of all of our students. By the end of the year our students are capable, confident, and ready for their future education.
